YAO XIAO: OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

We are delighted to introduce Yao Xiao, the latest addition to our roster of talented artists! A recent graduate, Yao was born and raised in Tianjin, a major harbor city in Northern China.

Yao earned her BFA at the School of Visual Arts where she developed a passion for graphic novels and narrative art. Yao's real strength is storytelling.

Yao just completed an impressive spread for this week's Entertainment Weekly Fall Preview (below), portraying three eccentric pop stars-- Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. The theme was 'Mothers of Reinvention' which was a perfect premonition to Miley's 'interesting' performance at this year's VMAs. This was Yao's first time illustrating a spread and she was thrilled to incorporate her signature elements in this bold editorial piece.
